In with the new

Look up ^^

See the address in the bar?

That’s right, this is the new home. The Son of Detroit blog is now in it’s official location. This will allow me more freedom as far as the formats of content that I can share.  There’s not too much to say about it other than update your bookmarks. I’m still working on the transition as far as some of the older posts, but for the most part we’re up and running.

Something else fantastic is coming very shortly.
Until then, Ciao.

Young Jeezy ft. Nas ~ My President is Black

Jay-Z ~ My President is Black (DC-Mix)

My President is black, in fact he’s half white.
So even in a racist’s mind he’s half right.
If you have a racist’s mind, you’ll be aight
My President is black but his house is all white.
Rosa Parks sat so Martin Luther could walk
Martin Luther walked so Barack Obama could run
Barack Obama ran so all the children could fly
So Ima spread my wings, you can meet me in the sky!

I already got my own clothes, already got my own shoes
I was hot before Barack… Imagine what Im gone do!
Hello Ms. America, hey pretty lady!
Red white and blue flag, wave for me baby.
Never thought I say this shit… Baby Im good
You can keep ya puss I dont want no more bush!
No more wars!
No more Iraq!
No more white lies bitch
My Presidesnt is Black!!!!

Live Nation has confirmed an inauguration concert in Washington D.C., featuring Mogul/rapper Jay-Z on January 19. The rapper will be backed by a live band when he hit’s the stage at The Warner Theatre in D.C., which is located on 13th Street. Prior to Barack Obama’s historic election as the first African-American of the United States, Jay-Z championed the president’s bid for office via concerts, voter registration drives nationwide and through his celebratory track “History.” “I need y’all to be really, really quiet for this. I need you to really understand what I’m telling you,” Jay-Z told young fans during a rally at The Uptown Theater for Obama in Philadelphia in early November.

“Rosa Parks sat so Martin Luther King could walk. Martin Luther King walked so Obama could run. Obama’s running so we all can fly,” Jay-Z said.

For Obama’s part, he has already expressed that he is a fan of Jay-Z’s music and admitted to listening to the popular rapper on his iPod. He even gave a nod to Jay-Z, when he “brushed dirt off of his shoulders” in response to jabs directed at him from former presidential hopeful, Senator Hillary Clinton. Tickets for the event are slated to go on sale January 9 at 10:00 am via ticketmaster, Livenation.com or the Warner Theatre Box Office. Barack Obama will officially be inaugurated as the 44th President of the United States on January 20 in Washington, D.C.

Redux

So.

Remember this post?

So much has changed since this time last year. Some of the stuff I put on there makes me laugh. I made a little comment about unemployment and then lost my job less than two months later..I still have no PS3..Pete and Renee’s comeback wasn’t really a comeback at all..and I did not get a Ford Edge.

I did, however, move out of state..I did get a Voyager..I am in IT..and Barack did the damn thing.

I have learned a lot this year about expectations and plans. From my parents getting divorced out of nowhere to me leaving my wife for my long-time ex to finding out that my wife is pregnant with another baby boy, 2008 has been full of surprises. I don’t really know what 2009 holds, but I feel like I’m ready for whatever at this point. There have been so many ups and downs in the past 365, but it’s making me who I am.

Sure, there are some things that I feel that I could have done without. I didn’t enjoy losing my good job and benefits and struggling to pay my bills while I live in a 3 bedroom apartment alone. I didn’t enjoy breaking more hearts. I did not enjoy seeing the people around me suffer and go through difficult changes.

There were, however, plenty of things that I did enjoy. I absolutely loved going to the Glow in the Dark show in Chicago. I thoroughly enjoyed spending Megan’s birthday with her. I’m thrilled about the certifications that I have obtained and the doors they will open for me in the future. I’m also happy that two people I care about have more defined career paths in front of them now.

I did start attending church again this year. I found a great church home at Crosswinds back in Holland. I miss them a lot and I’m so thankful that I got to become part of that community even for a short while.

Reflecting on this year on a larger scale, it’s been a turbulent one for the nation. Economically, things have gotten progressively worse. We have seen the gas prices plummet and that seems to be the only good thing going on in the marketplace. The auto industry is crying for help, banks are closing, and people are losing their homes. The country is desperate, and Mr. 44th President is inheriting a hell of a situation.

On the music end…wtf is going on? Lil Wayne sold a million records with the Lollipop song..Kanye West lost his goddamn mind..and Soulja Boy sold less than 50k (I thought the kids loved him??). Eminem, Jay, Jadakiss and 50 were supposed to all drop before the end of the 4th quarter and none of them did. My favorite albums of the year were from Solange and Rick Ross. Don’t ask me how that happened. After a list like that, I can’t even make music predictions for 09.

Movies and TV were mediocre for the most part. Standouts for me were Dark Knight and Prison Break respectively. Heroes was meh. Saw V was meh. Iron Man was better than Hulk.

So where do we go from here? Onward and upward. Continuing to press forward and do what we can, taking life one day at a time. I’m not going to make any more predictions because at the end of the day I just know that God’s will is bigger than man’s designs, so I don’t see the point in speculating.

God Bless and I hope that everyone has a beautiful transition into 2009.

Peace.

I finally did the 5th lesson. It’s a couple posts down because I dated it for last Friday when it should have been posted.

Also, I’m trying pretty hard not to shit on the lovely Mrs. Palin but it’s becoming too much. I’m hearing something new and disgusting every day. The latest?

Could be b.s.
I actually kinda hope so
